After a week of conference brain at Coex, a monsoon-smart loop through the megacity, the ancient capital and the sea — connected by bullet train, with room to make it yours.
Every highlight, colour-coded by city. Toggle the layers, click a pin for the why, or hit “View on map” inside any day below to fly there. Click the map once to enable scroll-zoom.
You'll already half-know Seoul from the conference, so treat the holiday as fresh: the city you know on either end, with two genuinely different places in the middle. That contrast is the trip.
The megacity. Joseon palaces and hanok lanes on one side; Brooklyn-style coffee, secret cocktail bars and night markets on the other.
Korea's "museum without walls" — capital of the Silla kingdom for a thousand years. Grass-covered royal tombs, UNESCO temples, palaces mirrored in still water at night. Flat enough to bike.
The coast. Hillside refugee-village-turned-art-quarter, mountains meeting the beach, raw seafood pulled from the market that morning. The yin to Seoul's yang.
This is the recommended spine. Where there's a real fork, it's a selectable choice (it updates your budget). Swap whole legs in Make it yours below.
Pick a route variant and toggle add-ons. The map's middle leg and your live estimate update as you go. Your picks are remembered on this device.
The whole loop runs on three KTX trains plus two short transfers. Book the trains ~1 month ahead — that's when Korail opens seats, and July-weekend trains fill fast.
| Leg | Train | Time | Fare |
|---|---|---|---|
| Seoul → Singyeongju · Day 3, for Gyeongju | KTX · 17/day | ~2 h | ~₩53,000 · €35 |
| Singyeongju → Busan · Day 5 | KTX · ~40/day | ~30 min | ~₩11,000 · €7 |
| Busan → Seoul · Day 8, Saturday | KTX or SRT | ~2 h 20 | ₩59,800 KTX / ₩52,600 SRT · €33–38 |
| Three trains | Korail (KTX) | ~5 h all week | ≈ ₩124,000 · €82 |
The KTX station sits ~30 min out of town. Bus 700 from outside the station (~25–30 min, ₩1,500, every 10–20 min), or a taxi (~15 min, ₩13,000–16,000) called via Kakao Taxi.
Busan Station is on Metro Line 1. Nampo is 2 stops south (~4 min); Seomyeon 4 stops north (~8 min). ~₩1,500 on T-money, no transfer.
AREX Express to Seoul Station: 43 min, ₩13,000 (≈ ₩11,600 pre-booked on Klook). All-stop AREX (stops Hongik Univ.): ~60 min, ~₩4,150 on T-money. Limousine bus: 60–90 min, ₩17–18k — easiest with luggage.
Gimhae (PUS)→ICN runs ~€20–55 on budget carriers, but with airport transfers + check-in it's no faster than the KTX (2 h 20, zero check-in) and adds a connection. The KTX back + last Seoul night stays the cleaner default.
Solo-friendly picks for each base, researched for July 2026 — a value bed, a sweet-spot, and one to splurge on. All are well-reviewed and walkable to that day's plan. Toggle the Stays layer on the map to see them, and book 4–6 weeks ahead — the smallest places go first.
The official hanokstay.or.kr portal is a useful quality badge, but it's Korean-only — find a certified place there, then book it via Booking / Agoda / Klook.
The base loop, broken down. Comfortably inside your €1000–1500 ceiling, with headroom for a splurge.

The stuff that actually makes or breaks a Korea trip in July. Tap to expand.
28–32 °C days, 22–25 °C nights, humidity up to 90%, daily rain. 2026 forecast: central region (Seoul) wet from ~25 June to ~end of July — your whole window. Modern pattern is short, intense bursts, not steady drizzle, so you can work around showers.
Bibimbap, samgyeopsal (BBQ pork belly), tteokbokki (Sindang-dong is the original alley), mandu, kimchi jjigae, Korean fried chicken.
Gyeongju ssambap (lettuce wrap with a wall of banchan); Gyeongju bread (red-bean souvenir).
Dwaeji-gukbap (pork-rice soup, the signature), milmyeon (cold wheat noodles), ssiat hotteok, raw seafood at Jagalchi, eomuk fish cakes.
Solo tip: BBQ is traditionally a group meal — some spots refuse single diners. Do BBQ during the conference with colleagues; solo, lean on soups, noodles and counter-seat market food.
